The problem

Fitting the Rigify metarig to a new character means placing dozens of bones across spine, limbs, feet and fingers by hand, checking alignment and symmetry from several views. It is slow work that depends on the individual artist’s experience and has to be repeated for every character, even when proportions barely change.

02

The solution

A Python add-on for Blender that builds the body metarig from a small set of guides defined directly on the mesh. Each guide is placed at the centre of the volume under the cursor, or on the surface when needed; guides on one side are mirrored automatically and central ones are locked to the symmetry axis. In-between joints such as elbows, knees and finger phalanges are derived from the key points. Viewport feedback, including a bone preview, is drawn through Blender’s GPU module with no helper objects in the scene; the metarig can be generated from a template or fitted to an existing one.

03

The result

A body metarig that matches the character’s proportions, ready for Rigify generation in a few minutes. The process is repeatable across characters, reduces symmetry and alignment errors and always delivers the same rig structure.
